Milan have not taken well the postponement of their meeting with Bologna, originally scheduled on Saturday 26 October, as they feel Lega Serie A could have ‘done more’ to allow the two teams to play according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.

Bologna Mayor Matteo Lepore initially announced on Thursday that the Stadio Dall’Ara could not host the match due to a recent wave of bad weather and successive warnings predicting more rain over the weekend, since the fixture would’ve drawn more than 30.000 fans to gather in one of the ‘most critical’ areas of the city.

However, Lega Serie A discarded alternative options following an emergency meeting on Friday, a decision that Rossoneri chairman Paolo Scaroni labelled as ‘incomprehensible’.

Why Milan are ‘furious’ for Bologna postponement

La Gazzetta dello Sport reports that Milan are ‘furious’ and ‘stunned’ by the final decision over their Serie A match at Bologna since they believe there were conditions to prevent the game from being postponed and rescheduled in an already much-congested fixture list.

The Rossoneri specifically blame city Mayor Matteo Lepore for discarding the option to play at the Stadio Dall’Ara behind closed doors, which would’ve solved every issue concerning the fans’ safety.

However, Milan also feel the Lega Serie A could’ve ‘done more’, as their emergency meeting was held too late, ruling out the possibility of rearranging the game at a neutral ground, with Empoli’s being the only feasible option.

At present, the first available dates to play the rescheduled Bologna-Milan are between late January and early February  2025. Also, the postponement of the fixture means that Theo Hernandez and Tijjani Reijnders’ bans will apply to the Rossoneri’s clash against Napoli next Tuesday.
