Georgina Rodriguez has spoken about her engagement to Cristiano Ronaldo, which the couple announced on Instagram in August after nearly nine years together.

"It's gorgeous. It's the least he could offer me after 10 years of waiting (laughs). The truth is, when he proposed, it was the last thing on my mind," she told ELLE Spain.

They first met in a Gucci shop in Madrid, where she worked while he played for Real Madrid. Her ring was thought to be worth about three million dollars. Friends had long joked about a wedding before they decided to marry.

Ronaldo has said he is not especially romantic, and proposed at around one am. He did not go down on one knee, but made a simple speech and offered the ring.

"It took me a long time to process the enormous stone he gave me. I was so shocked that I left it in my room and didn't open it in the sunlight until the next day (laughs)."

Reports put his engagement gifts at around £270,000, including a white electric Porsche Taycan and an Audemars Piguet watch.
