Karim Adeyemi has officially begun life as an FC Barcelona player after completing his first training session under Hansi Flick at the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper.

The German international joined his new teammates on Friday morning, just one day after his official presentation, finally ending a frustrating wait to begin work following the completion of his transfer.

According to SPORT, Adeyemi arrived at the training ground early before taking part in his first full session with the squad. Having already met his teammates during his unveiling, the 24-year-old was able to focus solely on adapting to Flick’s methods and building his fitness.

Adeyemi’s first appearance in Barcelona colours did not come in the evening’s friendly against CE Europa.

The coaching staff opted against rushing the winger into match action after he had only just completed his transfer, with the expectation that he will instead make his debut during the club’s pre-season tour of England.

Barcelona also continued without Ronald Araujo and Alejandro Balde, who are following individual recovery plans, while Hafiz Gariba missed training through illness.

For Flick, the priority is to ensure that every player reaches full fitness before the intensity of pre-season increases over the coming weeks.

Barcelona already have the profile they wanted

Sometimes, the most important pre-season moment is not a spectacular debut but a player’s first training session.

That is where relationships are built, tactical ideas are introduced and new signings begin to understand exactly what their coach expects.

There will naturally be excitement surrounding his first appearance, but Barcelona are right to remain patient.

Throwing a new signing into action before he is physically ready offers little benefit. Giving him time to settle into the squad and absorb Flick’s demands will be far more valuable over the course of a long season.

Supporters may have to wait a little longer to see Adeyemi in action, but the delay should not be lengthy.
