After launching their 2026 World Cup campaign with a ruthless six-goal win, several German players were strong contenders for the award. Felix Nmecha impressed with a goal and an all-action midfield display, while Joshua Kimmich and Nico Schlotterbeck also delivered standout performances.

However, it was Havertz who ultimately stole the spotlight. Leading the line with authority, the forward produced a captain’s performance, scoring twice as Julian Nagelsmann’s side overwhelmed their opponents.

The 27-year-old made the most of his opportunities, converting both of his shots on target and constantly troubling the Curaçao defence. Havertz also registered 11 touches inside the opposition penalty area, underlining his attacking influence throughout the contest.

In possession, he was equally effective, completing 88 percent of his passes in the final third and maintaining an impressive overall pass accuracy of 93 percent.

Having played a key role in Germany’s dominant opening victory, Havertz will now aim to carry that momentum into their next Group Stage fixture against Ivory Coast on June 20.
