Germany ‘to use’ Major Tom as World Cup goal song

Germany have selected the songs that will play during their 2026 World Cup games, Bild reports. Peter Schilling's "Major Tom" is again the goal song, as at their home European Championship two years ago.

A FIFA change for 2026 allows national associations to submit their own stadium music. Germany also picked tracks for post-win celebrations and for set moments during matches.

Die Toten Hosen's "An Tagen wie diesen" will play after the final whistle if they win. Herbert Grönemeyer's "Zeit, dass sich was dreht" is the signature track for specific moments.

The 1980s hit "Major Tom" replaced "Kernkraft 400" by Zombie Nation as Germany's goal song in March 2024.

At least 3,800 German fans are expected to attend Sunday's game against debutant Curaçao in Houston, Texas.
