Inter Milan defender Yann Bisseck has won praise for his “courageous” performance in yesterday’s Champions League win over Young Boys.

Today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews, award the German a score of 7/10 in the player ratings for the match.

Bisseck was in the Inter starting eleven for yesterday’s Champions League match.

And the 23-year-old showed his versatility by playing on the left of the Inter back three.

Typically, Bisseck has played on the right of the back three. That is virtually exclusively where the German has played for the Nerazzurri since joining last summer.

Bisseck is a right-footed player. therefore, playing on the right side tends to be more comfortable for him.

However, Bisseck had previously played on the left of the defense for Danish club Aarhuus.

Inter coach Simone Inzaghi decided to go with Bisseck on the left yesterday.

That was to give defender Alessandro Bastoni a break. The Italian international is a key player for Inter, and Inzaghi was hardly keen to burn him out.

And then, Francesco Acerbi was also absent, while Carlos Augusto started at left-wingback. They are two players who have often deputized for Bastoni.

But Bisseck made sure that Inter did not miss Bastoni much at all.

The German showed his defensive solidity, with a strong performance in his own penalty area.

But just as importantly, Bisseck was able to get forward at will. This is a key aspect of playing the wide centre-back role for Inter.

Taking the place of a player like Bastoni in that position is always going to be tough.

But Bisseck gave Inter a dynamic and technically assured presence getting forward from the left of the defense.
