Jonas Urbig has withdrawn from Germany’s March friendlies after sustaining a capsule injury to his right knee, Bayern Munich confirmed. He will miss the matches against Switzerland and Ghana.

The 22-year-old picked up the problem on international duty on Thursday, 26 March.

Head coach Julian Nagelsmann said Urbig performed well in training and described the decision as precautionary. He added it was nothing serious and that the goalkeeper could have continued, but he chose not to push him.

The setback removes a chance that he could have been in line for a first senior cap. Urbig has 22 youth appearances for Germany, including eight at U-21 level.

Augsburg goalkeeper Finn Dahmen has been called up to replace him for both fixtures.
