Legendary Roma captain Giuseppe Giannini discussed Claudio Ranieri’s impact on the team since returning in November.

In an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport, Giannini praised the technician’s work so far.

“I expected Ranieri to bring the experience and serenity,” he said. “It is also thanks to that that the players have been able to show their quality.”

“The victory in the derby gave everyone the necessary push to believe that the season was not over.”

“Roma has a valid team and an important coach,” he added. “The team still has a lot to say.”

“Athletic? In the first leg we saw that Roma has more quality. The victory came in the last second, but the team had many more opportunities than the opponent.”

“San Mames is a very challenging stadium, but this kind of atmosphere exalts champions and Ranieri has more of them than Athletic.”

“I think that Roma should not play a game defending the advantage of the first leg and they will not do it, the coach demands personality.”
