Juventus sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli has expressed his thanks to Thiago Motta following his Juventus sacking on Sunday, and has introduced Igor Tudor as the new Bianconeri head coach in front of the press, revealing that the club’s desire is to continue with the interim manager beyond the summer.

Thiago Motta was dismissed from his role as head coach of Juventus on Sunday, and was replaced by Tudor on the same day. The statements came in on Sunday afternoon, the former coach and his staff cleared out their lockers on Monday morning, and training under the new head coach began later that afternoon.

Speaking at Tudor’s introductory press conference on Thursday, Giuntoli said: “I wanted to thank Thiago Motta and his staff for their great work in recent months. I also wanted to clarify that the relationship with Thiago will remain one of great esteem. We took some time to reflect after my words in Florence, and decided to make a change for the team and for Juventus.

“Our choice immediately was for Igor, especially given his technical and moral qualities. Igor will stay with us until the end of the season, including the Club World Cup. Then we will meet up and the hope is to move forwards together.

“We believe in the team a lot, and we are very confident for the future.”
