Manchester United have extensively scouted Gleison Bremer over the past year but face a battle with their Premier League rivals to sign the Juventus defender, according to a report.

One of Serie A’s best

TEAMtalk reveals a number of Premier League clubs, including the Red Devils, have begun to “intensify their interest” in the Brazil international as he has “developed into one of Serie A’s most reliable defenders”.

Combining a potent pairing of physicality and pace, the 6’2 centre-back dominates opposition attackers, while maintaining the ability to play out from the back.

Since joining the Old Lady from Torino in 2022, he has made 93 appearances, keeping almost 46 clean sheets – almost a 50% hit rate. But without the Brazilian behemoth, Juve have managed just 21 clean sheets in 63 matches, a drop to 33%.

Bremer’s impact for Juventus is, evidently, almost “irreplaceable” and the 28-year-old is a foundational part of the team’s defensive stability.

However, he is injury prone – as demonstrated by 63 matches matches missed across three years – and this is unlikely to improve with age with the Brazilian turning 29 in March. But this has not deterred England’s elite from keeping tabs on Bremer.

High on United’s radar

TEAMtalk contends United, Liverpool and Chelsea have all dispatched scouts to regularly watch the Juventus talisman over the past year.

“Liverpool, Manchester United and Chelsea are all believed to have scouted him over the past year and with all three clubs monitoring defensive reinforcements, Bremer’s name remains high on the radar.

“Juventus, for their part, remain adamant that he is a central figure in their bid to return to the top of Italian football. Bremer has played every minute of their season so far and his importance to the set-up cannot be overstated.

“The five-times capped Brazil defender has emerged as a leader at the back, combining aerial dominance with calm distribution – and we’ve been told the club’s hierarchy see him as irreplaceable in the short term.”

Bremer is under contract until 2029, giving Juventus security over their prized asset, but the “sources suggest the lure of a move to England could turn his head – particularly with the chance to elevate both his career and financial standing,” the report concludes.

If Bremer signals his intention to push through a move to the Premier League, United will need to move quickly and decisively to trump their rivals in what may become a red-hot transfer battle for the Brazilian.
