Veteran goalkeeper Yann Sommer is still sitting above Josep Martinez in the Inter Milan hierarchy despite recent omissions.
According to Corriere dello Sport via FCInter1908, the 36-year-old remains Inter’s No.1 choice between the sticks.
Yann Sommer had started the season as the undisputed first-choice goalkeeper.
However, after making several blunders in a 4-3 defeat against Juventus, the ex-Bayern Munich stopper compromised his first-team chances.
Indeed, Cristian Chivu temporarily dropped him from his starting lineup in favor of Josep Martinez.

Sommer has been in goal in six of Inter’s eight matches this season.
Meanwhile, Martinez was between the sticks against Sassuolo and Cagliari in Serie A, conceding just once in those two games.
Furthermore, the Spaniard often impressed last season despite his limited playing time under Simone Inzaghi.
Signed from Genoa in the summer of 2024, Martinez hopes to succeed Sommer in goal.
With the Swiss star expected to leave San Siro at the end of the season, the Spaniard could be Inter’s new No.1 goalie next season.
However, he must prove his worth first.
