Liverpool will entertain Manchester United at Anfield on Sunday afternoon as they look to secure a good result at home in the Premier League. The Reds suffered a tough 2-1 loss away at Chelsea before the international break, so they would be eager to return to winning ways versus the Red Devils this weekend.

Arne Slot will set his side up in a 4-2-3-1 formation and is expected to make one change to his first XI for this game. Joe Gomez could play from the start of this contest because Ibrahima Konate is unlikely to recover in time from his thigh injury.

Defence

Giorgi Mamardashvili will feature in between the sticks for the Merseyside club after he shipped in a couple of goals in his last outing. Virgil Van Dijk will operate alongside Joe Gomez at the centre of the Liverpool backline as they look to keep a good shape on the defensive third of the pitch.

Conor Bradley will try to catch the eye as the right-back, while Milos Kerkez looks to give a good account of himself on the other side as the left-back. Both of them will have to pick and choose their moments to join in on the attack.

Andy Robertson will provide cover for the left-back position on the bench.

Midfield

Alexis Mac Allister and Ryan Gravenberch will anchor the midfield for the Reds as they try to dictate the tempo of the game at the centre of the park.

The talented trio of Cody Gakpo, Dominik Szoboszlai and Mohamed Salah will play just ahead of them as part of Liverpool’s attack. All three of them need to combine well if the Merseyside club are to come out on top at Anfield this Sunday.

Curtis Jones, Florian Wirtz and Federico Chiesa will be available for selection on the bench as they wait for their chance to make an impact in the second 45 minutes if required.

Attack

Alexander Isak will lead the charge for Liverpool in the final third. He has to find a way to be a constant menace up top.

Hugo Ekitike will have to settle for a spot on the bench and might come on to influence the game in the latter stages if needed.
