FC Bayern continue to work intensively on the signing of Anthony Gordon. According to media reports, the England international is the Munich club’s absolute dream player for the attack. Now transfer insider Fabrizio Romano has provided an exciting update – with good and bad news for the record champions
According to this, it is apparently certain that Gordon wants to leave Newcastle United in the summer. „He will leave Newcastle. I am 100 percent sure of that,“ Romano explained in his podcast Here We Go
This is a positive sign for FC Bayern, as the Italian transfer expert says the Magpies are already aware that the 25-year-old is looking for a new chapter in his career
However, there is also a problematic development from Munich’s point of view. As Romano went on to reveal, FC Barcelona are also looking closely at Gordon. „Barcelona really like him. I can tell you that the Barça officials really like Gordon,“ explained the journalist
This means that FC Bayern is facing prominent competition from Spain in its bid for the English attacking player
The biggest hurdle, however, remains the transfer fee. According to media reports, Newcastle United are demanding around 86 million euros for Gordon, a sum that would be particularly difficult for Barcelona to bear
Although FC Bayern is in a much better financial position than the Catalans, the Säbener Straße is also cautious when it comes to such high sums
Interestingly, according to the latest reports, Munich are considering a swap deal with Newcastle involving Alexander Nübel, which would allow them to reduce the Gordon transfer fee

Interestingly, sporting director Max Eberl himself recently hinted that there had already been concrete talks surrounding Gordon. „We have had a very good conversation and hope that we can move forward,“ Eberl explained at a recent event
The Bayern boss thus made it clear that Gordon is indeed playing a central role in the transfer plans internally
At the same time, Newcastle already appear to be preparing possible scenarios without Gordon. According to media reports, the English side are looking closely at Matias Fernandez-Pardo from OSC Lille
The Frenchman is apparently seen as a potential successor to Gordon
However, the situation remains complicated. Newcastle are under no financial pressure and would not necessarily have to sell Gordon. Despite a disappointing season in twelfth place in the Premier League, the Magpies still have enormous financial resources at their disposal.
