Valencia were left furious in the final moments of their draw at Mallorca when Pablo Maffeo appeared to tread on José Gayà inside the area, an incident the VAR did not review. Referee César Soto Grado let play continue, judging the contact minimal.

"I am very disappointed and very angry. I do not understand it," said Valencia’s CEO of Football, Ron Gourlay. "I hope someone explains the situation, because it is not the first time this season," he told A Punt Esports.

Head coach Carlos Corberán and his players expressed their displeasure at full time. The club later questioned on X what the difference was and asked for an explanation, posting a side-by-side of the two incidents.

The comparison referenced a prior match this season in which a similar contact was awarded as a penalty following a VAR review.

"There have been three other occasions, against Osasuna, Villarreal and Alavés, where these decisions have gone against us by a very small margin," Gourlay said. "I need the situation to be clarified. The club needs to be told why VAR was not used. There was time."
