Granit Xhaka sent a four-word message, "This one means everything," as Sunderland’s players took to social media after their comeback Tyne-Wear derby win at St James’ Park. Gratitude to the travelling support and the scale of the result dominated the posts.

According to Sunderland Echo, images of celebrations in front of the away section sat alongside short notes to fans. The mood across the squad was consistent.

Goalkeeper Melker Ellborg shared the away end with the caption, "Massive win today! Thanks for the support," adding red and white hearts. Omar Alderete posted a match image and simply wrote "+3", with hearts and a clenched fist.

Lutsharel Geertruida hinted that Tyne and Wear belongs to Sunderland, using red and white symbols. The recent record supports that view, with Sunderland unbeaten in their last 11 league games against Newcastle United, the Magpies without a home league win in this fixture since 2010 and any league victory since 2011.

The victory came after falling behind early, then producing a second-half full of character. Chemsdine Talbi, 20 years and 317 days, became Sunderland’s youngest Premier League scorer against Newcastle.

Xhaka’s words resonated given his visible first-half frustration and the team’s response after the break. Match-winner Brian Brobbey replied, "Yess my captain," while other comments called the win "historic", underlining the unity inside the dressing room.
