Sunderland captain Granit Xhaka has hailed Cole Palmer as “amazing” ahead of the two teams meeting at Stamford Bridge later this month.

Chelsea have had a mixed start to the season, and sit seventh with 11 points from their opening seven games, five points behind leaders Arsenal.

The Blues face a favourable run of fixtures after the international break, starting with a trip to Nottingham Forest next Saturday in the lunchtime kick-off.

Chelsea have also had a number of injury issues to contend with in the opening weeks of the season, although they are expected to have a few more players available after the international break.

Unfortunately Palmer is set to miss the next four games with an ongoing groin issue which has caused him problems since the Club World Cup.

Sunderland are set to visit Stamford Bridge on 25th October, with the Premier League new boys having made an excellent start to the season, with 11 points on he board already.

Xhaka, a new signing from Bayer Leverkusen in the summer, has admitted he’s a huge fan of Palmer and labelled him as “amazing.”

“He’s amazing,” he told Sky Sports.

“How much he improved after his move from Man City to Chelsea, unbelievable, he’s the key man in my opinion, he finds the spaces between the lines, he finds the last pass and he can score as well himself.”

In Palmer’s absence Enzo Maresca has had to find different solutions, and has tried Facundo Buonanotte in the ten, as well as pushing Enzo Fernandez further forward.

However, Buonanotte has also done well in his limited minutes, and having multiple options is a great position to be in.
