Celtic Football Club can confirm that Grant Scott will be joining as the new Celtic FC Women's Head Coach as Elena Sadiku departs the Club to pursue a new opportunity.

Appointed ahead of the 2018 campaign, Grant delivered immediate success, guiding Hibs to a domestic cup double by winning both the SWPL Cup and the Scottish Cup. That success continued the following season, with Hibernian retaining the SWPL Cup and progressing to the last 32 of the UEFA Women’s Champions League.

Following spells with Hearts, St Johnstone, Glasgow City in an interim role, and Durham Women in England, Grant returned to Hibernian in the summer of 2023.

Everyone at Celtic Football Club looks forward to welcoming Grant and wishes him every success as he undertakes his new role.

Delighted to be joining the club, Grant Scott said: “It is a huge honour to join Celtic and I look forward to carrying on the great work at the club, to push on and bring even more success to Celtic.

"I'm excited to join at a time when the new Barrowfield Training Centre is giving our women’s team every opportunity to develop, providing the players and those coming through the Academy with the best possible environment to train and come to work each day.

"I have experience of bringing success to clubs and, ultimately, this is what we will all strive for again, to ensure that Celtic can be at the very top of the women’s game.”

Celtic Chief Executive Michael Nicholson said: “Everyone at Celtic would like to thank Elena for her historic contribution during a hugely successful period as Head Coach of our women’s team, creating history by winning the club’s first-ever Scottish Women's Premier League title and reaching the UEFA Women’s Champions League group stage for the first time.

"We would like to wish Elena all the best in her next chapter and all her future endeavours.

“We are now pleased to welcome Grant Scott to Celtic as Head Coach of our women’s team. Grant brings a strong track record in Scottish women’s football, with proven experience of leading competitive teams and delivering success, most recently guiding Hibernian to their first league title in 18 years last season.

"We believe he is the right person to lead an important next phase of women’s football at Celtic, building on our investment in the new Barrowfield Training Centre to develop high-quality young Scottish players through to the first team. We look forward to welcoming Grant to the club.”

Celtic FC Women's Operations Manager, Stewart McGuire added: "Elena leaves Celtic, having played a significant role in a period of unprecedented success for our women’s team, and we thank her for her contribution during her time here.

"Her commitment to developing young players has seen several progress from our Girls’ Academy into the first team, which will stand us in good stead in the years ahead.

"Elena will always be welcome at Celtic, and we wish her every success in the next chapter of her career.

"We are delighted to appoint Grant Scott as our new Head Coach. Grant brings deep knowledge and understanding of Scottish women’s football, having guided Hibernian to their first league title in 18 years in May, and brings valuable experience to the role.

"We look forward to welcoming Grant to the Club as he takes charge of the squad and builds on the strong foundations already in place at an exciting time for women’s football at Celtic."

Elena Sadiku joined Celtic in January 2024, becoming the Club’s first-ever female Head Coach, making an immediate impact as she led the side to their first-ever Scottish Women’s Premier League (SWPL) title.

That domestic success was followed by a landmark European campaign during the 2024/25 season, as Elena guided Celtic to the UEFA Women’s Champions League group stage for the first time in the Club’s history.

In recognition of those achievements, Elena was named SWPL Coach of the Year at the Scottish Women’s Football Awards.

Elena departs with the team competitive on three fronts, having reached the semi-finals of the Sky Sports Cup, progressed to the fourth round of the Scottish Cup, while remaining competitive in the league going into the new year.

Everyone at Celtic would like to thank Elena for the role she has played during a period of historic success for Celtic FC Women and wish her every success in the next chapter of her career.

Elena Sadiku added: “When I came to Celtic, my focus was simple – to give everything I have to help this club create history.

"I want to send a special thanks to all the players, staff and everyone at the Club for their incredible efforts since the day I arrived, which has made this possible. Winning the Club’s first-ever league title and reaching the UEFA Women’s Champions League group stage for the first time are achievements I will always be proud of.

"To the Celtic fans, thank you for your support and always being there when we needed you. Home and away you were with us at every step, and the connection we built means a lot to me.

"Celtic will always be part of my journey, and I wish everyone at the Club every success in the future."
