Congratulations to Manchester City captain Alex Greenwood, who has made her 100th senior international appearance for England.
The defender reached the historic milestone in the Lionesses’ Euro 2025 Group D opener against France.
One of the finest centre-halves in world football, she becomes only the 14th player in England women’s history to reach a century of appearances.
Greenwood made her international debut in March 2014 against Italy in the Cyprus Cup.
Our captain is currently embarking on her sixth major tournament with the Lionesses, representing her country at three World Cups and three European Championships.
She was the youngest member of the England squad who made the 2015 World Cup semi-finals and helped her nation repeat the trick in 2019 before going one better by finishing as runners-up in 2023.
On a European front, Greenwood was a key figure in her nation’s historic march to the Euro 2022 crown, which saw the Lionesses end a 56-year wait for a major international honour.
The defender also went on to captain her country for the first time in an Arnold Clark Cup win over Italy in February 2023, and will be a key figure in Sarina Wiegman’s side as they now look to defend their European crown this summer.
Everyone at Manchester City would like to congratulate Alex on make her 100th senior international appearance for England.
