Roma continues to work on the incoming transfer market, and Mason Greenwood’s name remains one of the hottest to bolster Gian Piero Gasperini’s attack.
However, the Giallorossi know they can’t wait too long. Marseille’s financial situation could represent an opportunity, but only within a certain timeframe.
OM needs to sort out their finances, and the June 30th deadline could also be a crucial turning point for the English striker’s future.
The French club’s initial asking price remains high, around €55 million, but Roma is aiming to secure a discount by leveraging Marseille’s financial needs.
Before the end of the month, OM may be more willing to negotiate on favorable terms in order to send a concrete signal regarding their financial sustainability.
After June 30th, however, the situation risks changing, according to Corriere dello Sport.
Once the deadline is passed, Marseille could have more leeway to tighten their grip and try to maximize the value of the squad’s most talented player.
Further complicating the situation is the €60 million release clause, which will be activated on July 1st.
For Roma, therefore, time becomes a crucial factor. If Greenwood is truly the main target for their attack, they will need to move quickly to try to outperform the competition and secure better terms.
