Alex Greenwood says she and her team-mates won't lose focus despite the exciting few weeks ahead for City.

Our 1-0 FA Cup semi-final win over Birmingham City now means we’re just one win away from a return to Wembley, with the draw for the semis taking place ahead of our clash at St Andrew’s.

And it was City who earned that last four spot away to Chelsea thanks to Khadija ‘Bunny’ Shaw’s early strike.

The hosts failed to register a shot on target in the game, but City had to hold firm to withstand plenty of pressure from the WSL 2 leaders.

Our captain admitted it wasn’t a vintage City display, but that we ultimately did enough to achieve our objective.

“We got the job done in the end, and that was the most important thing,” Greenwood said to TNT Sports moments after the full-time whistle.

“They made it really difficult for us today and posed a couple of threats to us. I wouldn’t say that we were at our best today, but that’s the FA Cup, and that’s the challenge of this cup, but we’re through to the semi-final.”

“I love being part of this club; it’s a joy right now, and it’s great to be captain of this club.

“But I don’t get ahead of myself because I’ve been close in the past and it hasn’t happened, so this time I’m really focused on each game, and now we go into the international break, which is exciting. So, we’ll look after ourselves and then go again when we come back.”

Having not heard pre-match who our opponents would be if we successfully navigated past a tough Birmingham side, Greenwood found out after the game that it would be away to Chelsea.

While the news of another away FA Cup match, which will be our third of the competition, wasn’t greeted with too much delight, the captain acknowledged that you have to beat the best to win this competition.

“Of course,” Greenwood said when told our opponents would be Chelsea.

“Look, if you’re going to get to a final, then you’ve got to beat the best, and Chelsea are definitely one of them.”
