Grégory Lorenzi is being strongly courted by Marseille, with talks over a potential move said to be progressing, according to L'Équipe.

The Brest sporting director had been close to joining Nice after a verbal agreement, dependent on their top-flight survival, but he could yet head to Marseille, who are pushing to land him.

After a decade of success in Brittany, taking Brest from Ligue 2 to the Champions League, Lorenzi is preparing to leave without undue pressure and remains in high demand.

The 42-year-old is open to what would be a major step in his career and believes he could succeed at Marseille.

He has also held several discussions with the company tasked with presenting a range of candidates to the future president, Stéphane Richard, who is not due to take office until early July.
