Grêmio agree loan for right-back Diego Caito from Goiás | OneFootball

Grêmio have agreed a one-year loan for right-back Diego Caito from Goiás, with a path to a permanent deal. According to Globo.com, the club are buying 30% of his economic rights now for R$ three million.

To make the move permanent, they must pay a further R$ two million by December for another 20%, taking the package to R$ five million. If the total is paid, Grêmio secure the player and Goiás retain the remaining 50% of his rights.

Diego Caito is scheduled to travel to Porto Alegre between Wednesday and Thursday. Negotiations initially centred on a loan, which Goiás first rejected. Talks then shifted to an attempted purchase, rejected by Goiás, who tabled a counter-proposal.

There were disagreements over how to pay, before discussions moved on Wednesday to a loan that converts into an acquisition if the agreed sums are paid.

Agent Edson Neto travelled to Goiânia to work on the deal, and Diego Caito had already expressed a desire to leave Goiás. The 22-year-old is a Goiás academy product and has 28 appearances this year, with two goals and three assists.
