All four Grêmio and Inter players called up for the World Cup were unused substitutes in their nations' opening matches. Globo.com reports that none left the bench.

The sequence began on Friday with Brazil's 1-1 draw with Morocco, where Grêmio goalkeeper Weverton stayed behind Alisson. Brazil face Haiti in the second round on Friday at 21:30, and Weverton is expected to remain among the substitutes.

On Sunday in Philadelphia, Ivory Coast beat Ecuador 1-0. Inter defender Félix Torres was an unused substitute through the 90 minutes.

On Monday, Uruguay drew with Saudi Arabia. Sergio Rochet, who had started much of the cycle, lost his place to the experienced Muslera.

Amid fluctuating form and recent fitness issues, the Inter goalkeeper has slipped down the Celeste pecking order. He travelled after missing Inter's past two matches with lower back pain and has made only 17 club appearances this year.

Marcelo Bielsa's side fell behind, applied pressure and found a leveller against Saudi Arabia. Uruguay play Cape Verde on Sunday at 19:00.
