Grêmio in talks to appoint Benfica scout Carlos Silva as head scout

Grêmio are advancing talks to appoint Carlos Silva, Benfica’s South American scout, as head scout. According to Globo.com, the club have moved towards an agreement, but have not confirmed it, and acknowledge talks are ongoing. If appointed, Silva would oversee the analysis department.
Silva has led Benfica’s monitoring of the Brazilian market for about two years. Before that, he worked at Farense in Portugal as head scout and technical director.
The position has been open since Hugo Ribeiro’s exit, confirmed by Grêmio on 13 May. Also Portuguese, Ribeiro arrived at the start of the year and asked to leave for personal reasons.
There has been further upheaval in the football department. Vice-president of football Antônio Dutra Jr. left the role on Monday, and Rafael Lima leaves his director post to become vice.
At the start of the year, Grêmio signed goalkeeper Weverton, left-back Caio Paulista, midfielders Leo Pérez and Nardoni, and forwards Enamorado and Tetê.
