Grêmio in talks with Goiás over 22-year-old Diego Caito deal | OneFootball

Grêmio are persisting with a move for right-back Diego Caito after Goiás rejected their first approach. According to Globo.com, discussions now focus on a permanent transfer for the 22-year-old.

The clubs are debating the payment structure and overall fee. Caito regards the switch as a chance to progress and wants it to happen, provided the terms suit both sides.

Grêmio had hoped to bring him in for their Brasileirão return on 17 July against Mirassol. Goiás rejected a one-year loan proposal that included an option to buy.

Launched by Goiás, Caito made his senior debut in 2023. This season he has 25 appearances, 18 as a starter, with two goals and three assists.

Grêmio have signed centre-back Wallace from CRB and agreed a pre-contract with Juventude midfielder Mandaca for the start of next year, while trying to advance his arrival. Matheus Nascimento’s arrival is set to be made official soon, and the club are also seeking a midfielder. Viery has been sold to Fiorentina and Arthur did not renew.
