Guardiola provides update after another injury blow for Man City in Champions League win | OneFootball

Pep Guardiola says Jeremy Doku suffered a calf injury in Manchester City’s win over Galatasaray.

The winger set up both of his side’s goals in the 2-0 win as Erling Haaland and Rayan Cherki scored to send City straight through to the Champions League round of 16.

But the Belgium international was later forced off and Guardiola expects him to miss at least this weekend’s game against Tottenham.

“I think so,” Guardiola said when asked if he would be out for the next game.

“He’s injured, his calf. He felt something.”

When asked how big of a miss Doku will be given how well he played tonight, Guardiola responded: “Not just tonight, all season. But Jeremy had, a little bit, these problems, you know?”

City finishing in the top eight of the league stage means they have avoided a play-off round to reach the last 16, and Guardiola says it is a big achievement for his side.

“Considering how many top, top teams are out of the top eight, we know how difficult it is,” he said.
