Real Madrid head coach Xabi Alonso has provided an insight into the current free-kick taker pecking order in his squad.

This comes amid confirmation that a number of players are currently vying for the right to take control of set pieces in Spain’s capital.

Real Madrid’s squad of course features a whole host of stars boasting the technical qualities required to take free-kicks.

Be it from a position favouring a left-footer or a right-footer, Xabi Alonso is not at all short on viable options.

Speaking in his latest pre-match press conference on Saturday, the subject of his side’s free-kick pecking order was therefore put to the Spanish tactician himself.

And Alonso made use of the opportunity to highlight four players whom he considers more than capable of excelling in dead ball situations over the season ahead:

“Main free-kick taker? We will see. Arda Güler is great. Trent and Franco as well, even in corners. Kylian Mbappé too.”
