According to Marca, Guido Rodríguez has accepted Valencia’s proposal to continue at Mestalla, the club having steadily improved its financial package and term to land a priority target this summer.
Valencia worked the deal patiently to avoid repeating last summer’s misstep with Santamaría, aiming to give the head coach a trusted player for a defined role. The club had retained confidence in recent weeks that an agreement could be reached.
Rodríguez weighed other offers, yet factors such as salary, contract length or the league involved did not fully convince him. Valencia also set out a project aiming to play in Europe in 27/28, which helped tip the decision.
The club initially proposed two years. The player held out for three and, with certain conditions, will sign for three, keeping him at Mestalla for the final season at the old ground and, if nothing changes, the first at Nou Mestalla.
He and his family have settled quickly in the city, attending Fallas in March, and he has shown strong daily commitment in the dressing room after arriving on an initial half-season deal. A recent Father’s Day post from Mestalla underlined that bond.
After Dieng, De Haas and Sato, Rodríguez will become Valencia’s fourth addition for 26/27. The move marks a shift from 2025, when the Sadiq pursuit faltered. Gourlay and Corberán view him as key for midfield balance and added maturity, with other areas still to address.
