Gustavo Sá not in Benfica plans as defence targeted | OneFootball

According to Glorioso 1904, despite recent links, Benfica are not considering Famalicão midfielder Gustavo Sá for the next transfer window. He continues to attract interest from other clubs after his season.

The hierarchy led by Rui Costa has set out main recruitment goals, with the defence the area of greatest concern. As a result, Sá is not among current priorities.

Planning for next season is being shaped by uncertainty over Benfica’s next head coach. José Mourinho’s move to Real Madrid has paused several decisions while the board waits to align with the incoming manager.

Rui Costa intends to match transfer moves with the new coach’s ideas, in a campaign scheduled to start earlier than first planned. Despite Sá’s rising valuation as a Portugal under-21 international, a move to Benfica is not expected.

In 2025/26 for Famalicão, Sá, valued at 25 million euros, made 34 appearances, 32 in Liga Portugal Betclic and two in the Taça de Portugal. Across 2,881 minutes, the attacking midfielder scored four goals and supplied two assists.
