Erling Haaland was in inspired form as Manchester City record a comfortable derby victory at home to rivals United.
Indeed, the Norwegian almost scored in 20 seconds after picking up the ball on the left and firing just wide of Altay Bayindir's goal.
However, the 'number one' couldn't stop the header from Phil Foden, the creative Englishman who appeared in the middle of the box to make it 1-0 in the 18th minute following excellent solo play by Jérémy Doku. The Belgian winger jinked into the box and though his first attempt at a cross was blocked the second did the trick..
Shortly thereafter, Bryan Mbeumo had a huge chance to score, but his right-footed shot was far off target from Gigi Donnarumma, the Italian making his debut after being signed in the last summer transfer window.
United made no changes at half time and conceded early in the second period. Again Doku was involved, this time playing Haaland in behind the United defence with the striker finishing the rest.
The Red Devils' manager made changes with the substitutes he had on the bench and introduced two players: Kobbie Mainoo and Harry Maguire. However, the changes had no effect, as Erling Haaland scored again, after another long pass that left him face-to-face with Altay Bayindir.
The visitors did have some chances with Mbeumo by far the most dangerous player for the Red Devils but they simply did not have the quality to break City down.
That result sees the Citizens end the weekend in eighth place in the table while United sit 14th with four points from four games.
