The story between Erling Haaland and Real Madrid might not be over yet. While the Norwegian seemed firmly anchored in Manchester City's project, rumors of a transfer to the Spanish capital are resurfacing with growing intensity. According to Spanish journalist Jorge Picón, speaking on the show ElDesmarque Madrugada, the 25-year-old striker still harbors the dream of wearing the famous white shirt of Real—a wish he has never hidden since the very start of his career.

A clause that changes everything

Behind this potential blockbuster move, one key detail stands out: Haaland’s famous release clause. Written into his contract with Manchester City, it could allow the striker to leave England without Pep Guardiola being able to block the move. The exact amount remains a closely guarded secret, but several Spanish outlets claim it could be triggered as early as the summer of 2026—or even sooner, depending on certain contractual conditions.Florentino Pérez reportedly sees Haaland as the perfect embodiment of the new Madrid era: a powerful, clinical striker, perfectly suited for the club’s European ambitions.

An equation called Vinícius

However, the deal is not without its hurdles. Jorge Picón points to a direct link between Haaland’s situation and that of Vinícius Júnior. The Brazilian, still in talks to extend his contract, is going through a tense period with the board after his controversial substitution in the latest Clasico. If he were to leave, Real Madrid would not only free up a major attacking slot but also a significant chunk of the wage bill—enough to accommodate Haaland.

"I wouldn’t separate the Haaland case from Vinícius’s," Picón explains. "If the Brazilian stays, this transfer becomes much more complicated, both sportingly and financially."

Over in England, Manchester City remains calm. Guardiola, tied to his star striker until 2034, isn’t considering a departure any time soon. But in Madrid, the dream of a Mbappé–Haaland partnership is already haunting the minds of fans. The saga is only just beginning—and as is often the case with Real Madrid, nothing seems impossible.
