Hannover are in talks with VfB Stuttgart forward Silas Katompa-Mvumpa (27), according to a report from Bild.
The DR Congo international suffered an ankle injury after returning in the summer but despite being fit for the last three months, is yet to make a single appearance in Sebastian Hoeneß’s matchday squad. Silas, who has six months remaining on his current deal, played for Serbian outfit Red Star Belgrade in 2024/25, returning seven goals and one assist in 24 games across all competitions.
VfB tried offloading their 35 goal striker during the summer, but to no avail with the player’s entourage confirming in August that the 27-year-old would remain at the MHPArena. The problem that arises now is that because the player’s contract expires in six months, they can no longer loan him out. Bild suggest that one option might be to extend his contract beyond the summer, allowing him to be loaned out.
With Deniz Undav in form, Ermedin Demirović returning and VfB working on a deal to sign Jeremy Arevalo, there’s little chance of their former star featuring again for the club.
Negotiations are still ongoing between the two clubs, as Hannover look to add firepower to their attack. Only Elversberg (31) have scored more than H96 (30) in the 2. Bundesliga this season. Summer arrival Benjamin Källman (27) has scored 10 goals in 17 games.
