Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick has moved to lavish praise on a member of his defensive ranks on Sunday evening.

The player in question? João Cancelo.

Barcelona were of course back in action earlier today, welcoming Sevilla to Catalunya’s capital for a La Liga clash.

The aforementioned Cancelo featured from the off in the fixture, slotting in at left-back for the latest occasion.

And en route to an eventual 5-2 Blaugrana romp, the Portuguese played a starring role.

Cancelo played a direct role in a pair of penalties won by the day’s hosts, before rounding out the scoring courtesy of a brilliant solo effort.

Drawn on the performance produced by his on-loan full-back post-match at the Spotify Camp Nou, Hansi Flick therefore made use of the opportunity to sing Cancelo’s praises:

“I rested Cancelo for some time to adapt, but he was great in the recent matches. He is an amazing player technically, whether in the goal he scored, or his contribution to the penalties and even in setting the offside trap. Signing Cancelo was the right choice.”
