Hansi Flick vows to ‘always protect and support’ one Barcelona star | OneFootball

Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick has this week moved to throw his unwavering backing behind youngster Lamine Yamal.

This of course comes amid what have been a difficult last couple of months for the 18-year-old.

Plagued by injuries, media criticism and personal drama alike, Lamine has looked some way off his best when on the pitch of late.

Speaking during his latest press conference on Saturday, the name of his prodigious young winger was therefore put to manager Hansi Flick once more.

And Barca’s headmaster made use of the opportunity to assure:

”We spoke with him. I think we were both very honest. I will always protect and support Lamine.”

Drawn on the Spanish international’s wellbeing ahead of his side’s La Liga meeting with newly-promoted Elche on Sunday, Flick continued:

“Lamine is fine, although some days he still feels a bit of discomfort. He’s progressing well, that’s all we can say.”
