Hansi Flick’s ‘first problem’ arises at Barcelona | OneFootball

The first major problem facing Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick has on Friday been detailed online.

The info comes courtesy of Mundo Deportivo, and surrounds the future of Iñigo Martínez.

Stopper Iñigo, for his part, has long seen his future in Catalunya’s capital thrown up in the air.

As much comes with the Spaniard’s biggest supporter, in Xavi, having of course been sent on his way by the Barcelona brass.

The 33-year-old’s place in the plans of the incoming Hansi Flick, amid something of a logjam at the heart of defence in the Blaugrana’s squad, has in turn been labelled as altogether more unclear.

And, on Friday, a fresh insight into the situation has been provided.

As per MD:

‘Despite having one more year left on his contract, the Basque centre-back is not in the club’s plans.’

The problem for Barcelona, however, lies in the fact that Iñigo himself has no interest in moving on.

Should Deco and co. attempt to force their out-of-favour stopper out, he will therefore not make things easy for the Blaugrana, demanding that the final year of his contract be paid in full.

MD conclude that the situation ‘will be the first problem that Flick will have to deal with’.
