Bayern Munich launched their Champions League campaign in style with a 3-1 victory over Chelsea at the Allianz Arena, and of course, it was Harry Kane at the heart of it.

The England captain scored twice - first from the penalty spot after being fouled by Moisés Caicedo, and then with a clinical finish after Bayern forced a mistake from Malo Gusto.

That double against Chelsea carries extra weight. Kane has now scored ten career goals against the Blues, meaning they join Brighton, Burnley and Newcastle in the group of clubs that he has hit double figures against. Only Leicester, with 20 conceded, Everton with 16, Arsenal with 15, Southampton with 12, and both Crystal Palace and Stoke with 11, have suffered more at his hands.

The numbers in Europe are even more staggering. Since the start of the 2023/24 season, when he joined the Bavariams, Kane has scored 21 Champions League goals - more than any other player in that period, ahead of Kylian Mbappé’s 17 and Raphinha's 16.

His overall tally in the competition now stands at 42 goals and 11 assists, meaning he has been directly involved in 53 goals in the Champions League. No English player in history has contributed to more, with Kane moving past David Beckham’s record of 52.

Kane has now scored 20 or more Champions League goals for both Tottenham Hotspur and Bayern Munich, becoming only the third player to do so for two different clubs. The only others to achieve this feat are Cristiano Ronaldo, with Manchester United and Real Madrid, and Neymar, with Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain.

His current form is frightening. In the 2025/26 season so far, Kane has already played six matches, scored 10 goals and provided three assists.

At thirty-two, Kane looks sharper than ever. The goals keep flowing, the records keep tumbling, and Bayern Munich will be hoping their talisman can finally fire them to European glory.
