Having recently expressed concern about Bayern Munich’s small squad size, Harry Kane seemed much more pleased with the state of his Bundesliga club on Friday night. Kane had good reason to be content. The England national team captain had just recored the eight hat trick of his Bayern career. This particular hat trick counted as the third time Kane received one of German football’s highest honors.

Kane actually scored what Germans term a “Lupenreiner (“flawless”) hat trick“, defined as an instance in which a player scores three straight goals uninterrupted in a single half of football. Kane scored two such hat tricks last season, against Kiel on matchday three and again against Augsburg on matchday 11.

Kane’s now has another Lupenreiner to commemorate thanks to the three goals scored in the second half of the 6-0 victory over RB Leipzig. Blockbuster new summer signing Luis Diaz assisted on two of Kane’s three second half goals in addition to scoring himself.

Lucho has only been here a few weeks, but we already have a good connection,” Kane told Sky Germany when commenting on a new teammate was keen to welcome some weeks back.He had a few assists for me today and finished his goal excellently. That’s good for the lads and for confidence.

Kane also reserved praise for another one of Bayern’s top performers on the evening. Former Crystal Palace man Michael Olise grabbed a brace himself. In Kane (Tottenham), Olise (Palace), and Diaz (Liverpool), three former Premier League stars served as Bayern’s goal-scorers on the evening. Kane, Olise, and Diaz all worked in the English top flight together during the 2021/22 and 2022/23 campaigns.

The relationship with Mike [Olise] is getting stronger and stronger,” Kane said.

FCB head coach Vincent Kompany, himself an EPL alum after two years with Burnley, could only marvel at Kane when speaking to ran.de. Kompany revealed that he had been paying less attention to the scoresheet than other things on this particular evening. For whatever it’s worth all three of Kane’s “Lupenreiners” have come during Kompany’s tenure.

He remains a player who not only scores goals but also contributes a lot to the game overall,” Kompany said. “I didn’t even notice that he scored three goals, but somehow he did it again.
