The England international was left out of United’s matchday squad for the 3-0 pre-season loss at the hands of Liverpool in South Carolina last weekend.

Erik ten Hag revealed that Maguire was excluded as a precautionary measure.

On Thursday, the United boss said in his presser, “Harry Maguire missed the game (against Liverpool), was a precaution but is still a question mark for Saturday.”

“So we have training, we have to see whether he is fit enough or not to be available.”

“Victor played but also he’s a question mark and also Azza (Aaron Wan-Bissaka) and Luke Shaw are both question marks, we have to assess them tomorrow.”

According to The Manchester Evening News, Maguire is back in the United squad for the Community Shield but there was no sign of Lindelof, Wan-Bissaka or Luke Shaw as the players boarded their train at Stockport Station on Friday.

Also present were Lisandro Martinez and Diogo Dalot, who have both been thrust straight back into the squad after just coming back from international duty with Argentina and Portugal respectively.

MEN add that Carrington academy graduate Harry Amass is in line for his senior debut after enjoying a superb pre-season campaign. Amass started all three of United’s pre-season clashes in the United States.

Confirmed members of United’s travelling contingent to the capital are Andre Onana, Altay Bayindir, Tom Heaton, Dalot, Maguire, Jonny Evans, Martinez, Amass, Casemiro, Mason Mount, Toby Collyer, Christian Eriksen, Scott McTominay, Kobbie Mainoo, Bruno Fernandes, Marcus Rashford, Amad Diallo, Antony, Alejandro Garnacho, Jadon Sancho, Facundo Pellistri and Joshua Zirkzee.

Kick-off is at 15:00 BST.
