Harry Wilson continues to be linked with Benfica, but, according to Glorioso 1904, he will not be moving to the Estádio da Luz for 2026/27, with the reasons set out.
The Fulham winger impressed last season, finishing as the club’s top Premier League scorer with 10 goals in 36 matches, plus seven assists. Previous work with Marco Silva and the chance of a free transfer could have appealed to Rui Costa.
Benfica want to strengthen the flanks, but they are targeting a different profile. The preference is for a rapid wide player, strong in duels and directly involved in goals, and younger. Wilson is 29, a bracket that does not particularly suit the club’s leadership.
His Premier League pay is considered high for Portuguese football. There is also interest from English sides with more financial power than Benfica.
Beyond the wings, Benfica are prioritising at least two centre-backs. Missing the Champions League means the budget will be managed with extra care.
