Reds star makes impact off the bench again in 2-1 win Champions League win over Lille
Harvey Elliott declared his intention to stay at Liverpool after scoring in Tuesday night’s 2-1 over Lille.
The 21-year-old, who was praised by Arne Slot for his impact when coming off the bench to help set-up Saturday’s late win at Brentford, notched the winner as the Reds reached the knockout stages of the Champions League.
It was Elliott’s first Champions League goal for over two years, the midfielder seeing a shot from outside the box following a half-cleared corner deflected off defender Ngal'ayel Mukau and past goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier.
Mohamed Salah’s 50th European goal had given Liverpool the lead but Jonathan David struck back for the ten-man French outfit, who lost Aissa Mandi to a red card in the 59th minute following two bookable offences.
Elliott has largely played a bit-part role under Slot this season but celebrated his goal by appearing to tell people to stop talking, having recently been linked with a move away.
Asked about his celebration by Amazon Prime Video, Elliott said: “I think it’s pretty clear, to be honest.
“I’m not leaving. This is my team. This is my club. I’m a massive fan and we’re in a great position so far this season.”
