It could well be a precautionary substitution from Carrick, as that was also the case earlier this season against Crystal Palace; the Englishman was withdrawn inside the opening half hour of action at Old Trafford, but was fit to start the subsequent fixture.
Gary Neville added on commentary that Shaw is overseeing his ‘most consistent’ run for United, having been available to start every single Premier League game this campaign.
With just four matches remaining after tonight, he’ll be desperate to extend his impressive feat until the final day against Brighton and Hove Albion.
Yet, there are still said to be concerns over Shaw’s physicality amongst club officials, especially considering United are set to have the added pressure of Champions League action next season.

The added fixtures to an already jam-packed schedule will be a shock to the system for the squad after a year in which United have played their fewest number of matches since 1915.
After tonight, the Reds’ full focus will be on Sunday, when they welcome Liverpool to M16 in hopes of sealing a first league double over their arch-rivals in 10 years.
