Have Manchester United made the right decision with Casemiro? | OneFootball

Casemiro confirmed in January that he would leave Manchester United when his contract expires this summer. 

The Brazilian has been firing on all cylinders since then, bagging three goals and an assist in his last seven league appearances. 

One of his best performances for the Red Devils came on Sunday against Aston Villa. 

Casemiro scored the opening goal in the 53rd minute, timing a clever run to the near post before heading the ball home. 

He also won all of his aerial duels and completed every pass in his own half, helping his side seal a crucial 3-1 victory over Villa.

Some fans were so happy with his display that they chanted for him to stay for one more year at the club. 

However, BBC Sport claims United will not reverse their decision, which raises the question of whether they have made the right call. 

Right decision by United?

Casemiro is a world-class midfielder who is highly rated for his tackling ability, physical strength and game awareness. 

He has an elite winning mentality and has proven himself at the top level, winning five Champions League trophies with Real Madrid. 

Despite his experience and leadership qualities, Casemiro is now 34-years-old. He is not a long-term solution for United. 

Co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe ordered a review of the squad when he arrived at the club and was surprised to learn that Casemiro was earning close to £400,000-per-week. 

Ratcliffe couldn’t understand why the club had decided to spend £70 million plus wages to sign someone above 30, given his fitness issues in Madrid. 

The British billionaire has decided to cut ties with Casemiro and has no plans to reverse the decision. Ratcliffe has made the right call this time. 

The Brazilian deserves praise for his excellent performances this season, but the club should bring in a younger midfielder during the next transfer window.
