The FC Barcelona team was finally able to train at the Spotify Camp Nou ahead of the game against Celta Vigo, and the progress made with the stadium is naturally exciting the Blaugrana fans.

This excitement must have increased several-fold, as it was recently reported that Lionel Messi visited the Camp Nou on Sunday night.

As Mundo Deportivo has reported, the Barcelona president, Joan Laporta, recently appeared in an interview with the program El Mati on Catalunya Radio and talked about Messi’s visit to the renovated stadium.

Laporta admitted that the visit came as a surprise even to him. He said, “I didn’t know he was coming, but the Spotify Camp Nou is his home. When they explained to me how it happened, I thought it was a charming impulse—he had finished dinner and wanted to come with some friends. It was an act of true Barcelonism.”

The president also spoke about the tribute that Messi deserves, noting, “It is only fair that Leo receives the most beautiful tribute in the world. When it is ready, we will have a capacity of 105,000 fans, which we hope to fill. We are working on the tribute and on making it possible to see the best football in the world, and as part of the tribute, we would like to offer Leo the recognition he deserves.”

Meanwhile, the Barcelona president watered down the expectations of Messi’s return to the Blaugrana club as a player:

“It didn’t happen the way we all wanted; things happened as they did. If in some way the tribute can make up for what couldn’t be done, that would be good. But making speculations about a possible return as a player is not appropriate.”

There is no doubt that the Barcelona fans would be highly happy with Lionel Messi’s return to the Camp Nou. Hopefully, the tribute that Joan Laporta talked about in this interview will also take place soon, and who knows, the Argentine might also return to the club for a last dance.
