Manchester United skipper Bruno Fernandes brought his side back to the fixture and responded to his tolls in one fell swoop.

The 30-year-old started at the heart of the lineup in the FA Cup 5th Round tie between the Red Devils and the West Londoners which is currently taking place at Old Trafford.

After a dim first half, Calvin Bassey gave the visitors the lead by nodding the ball home from close range. Nevertheless, Fernandes once again rose to his team’s rescue.

Alejandro Garnacho made a positive impact off the bench, freeing up Diogo Dalot on the left-hand side. The wingback made a run towards the byline before cutting it back to the middle of the box. Bruno was in the right place at the right time, but also required a clinical finish to beat Bernd Leno.

Luckily for the Reds, the Portuguese certainly has it in his locker, so his superb first chance sent a low drive towards the bottom corner, and the German goalkeeper couldn’t get near it.

Aside from equalising the score for United and keeping their FA Cup defence campaign alive, the captain also responded to Fulham supporters in style. The travelling fans were heard signing the unsavoury song of “Bruno Fernandes, he looks like a rat” on several occasions, including on the corner kick that led to the opening goal.

With the match now levelled at 1-1, it remains to be seen if either side will find a winner. Otherwise, we’ll be heading to extra-time followed by potential penalty shootouts.
