Antony has been a revelation for Real Betis since he signed on loan from Manchester United during the winter transfer window, having scored three goals and provided two assists in seven appearances across all competitions.

Antony’s start to life at Betis has been at a stark contrast to his fortunes at Man United, who signed him for big money from Ajax back in the summer of 2022. He has much preferred his time in Andalusia, and because of this, there is already talk of him possibly remaining at the club for at least another season.

Last month, Betis CEO Ramon Alarcon admitted that this is a possibility – despite the fact that the club does not have an option to buy as part of the loan agreement with Man United. Nevertheless, that should not stop them speaking to the Premier League giants at the end of the season.

Alarcon has again spoken on Antony, this time to Canal Sur’s ‘El Pelotazo’ (via MD). During the interview, he revealed a recent conversation that he had with the Brazilian winger.

“The other day Antony told me that he wants to stay another year. The player is very comfortable here and was surprised with the facilities that we gave him to settle in the city as soon as he arrived.”

It is no surprise that Antony has felt very settled since joining Betis, and his performances speak for themselves. It is clear that both player and club would like to extend their relationship, although doing so will depend on Man United, who reportedly want to cash in on the 25-year-old during the summer.

It remains to be seen whether Antony can stay, but for now, his full focus will be ensuring a successful end to the season for Betis. So far, things are going well.
