Manchester United's third-choice goalkeeper Tom Heaton could stay on at the club despite expectations he would leave to pursue a coaching career.
Former academy player Heaton was brought back to serve as a backup for the 2021/22 campaign and has stayed at the club ever since, making a total three senior appearances but being valued for his work on the training pitch and in the dressing room. Indeed, Heaton was called up by England as a training goalkeeper for the country's EURO 2024 campaign.
But with André Onana's future uncertain, and Altay Bayindir reportedly seeking first team football, Heaton could stay at United according to journalist Chris Wheeler of Mail Sport.
Heaton turned 39 earlier this month and staying on for another season would see him remain in the English top flight at the age of 40.
