While the football itself dominated headlines, one particular battle became one of the biggest talking points after the final whistle.

As has often been the case in recent Clasicos, Gavi and Vinicius Jr. spent large parts of the match provoking and challenging each other during physical duels and heated exchanges.

Words were exchanged

The pair repeatedly crossed paths throughout the game, with frustrations growing as the intensity increased.

After the match, Gavi admitted he had told Vinicius to “shut up” after the Real Madrid winger attempted to provoke Barcelona supporters by gesturing about the club’s Champions League success.

Now, fresh footage has revealed the full exchange between the two players during one of the game’s most tense moments.

At one stage, Gavi walked directly towards the Brazilian winger and said,“Hey, where’s your Ballon d’Or?”

Vinicius responded with a laugh before replying, “I’ve got Champions League titles, you…”

The confrontation did not end there. As tempers continued rising during the second half, another exchange between the pair was picked up during the match.

Trying to calm the situation, Vinicius told the Barcelona midfielder, “What do you want, mate? I’m keeping my cool”.

Gavi immediately fired back with another sharp response, “Right, well shut up and play. Stop playing the fool.”

The tension surrounding Vinicius extended beyond Gavi alone. At one point, Ferran Torres was also heard shouting towards the Real Madrid star from the Barcelona bench, telling him, “Shut up, you idiot.”

All these scenes perfectly reflected the atmosphere of a Clasico that carried huge importance for both clubs.

Barcelona eventually emerged from the chaos in a far stronger position, not only winning the game but also winning the La Liga title.
