Newcastle 4 Nottingham Forest 3 – Sunday 23 February 2025 2pm
The photo that Newcastle United fans had all really really wanted to see on Sunday night.
An eventful match to say the least.
Newcastle dominant from the first whistle only for Forest to take the lead with pretty much their only attack of note in the first half.
However, United 4-1 up at the break thanks to a whirlwind four goals in 11 or 12 minutes.
Then an ever more nervy second half saw Newcastle gift the ball and struggle on defending set-pieces. The wind not helping and the absence of both Joelinton and Botman not helping against a big Forest side, as the visitors pressed in the closing stages.
United did deserve the win overall but it wasn’t a match for those of a nervous disposition.
Another winning snapshot post-match.
Another photo = The nineteenth of this season.
The Newcastle United Head Coach introduced this tradition of a post-match everybody included photo following each victory, as he felt it had worked as a bonding exercise when he was at Bournemouth.
(It is actually the twenty first victory of the season for United but for whatever reasons, no winning photo after the win over AFC Wimbledon. Then at the Emirates, I think for sure that no post-match dressing room photo was done due to the fact the Arsenal semi-final tie was only at halfway.)
Thirteen wins in the last sixteen games (all competitions) and the twelfth photo from this run.
Great to see.
It is also a massive bonus just how much it winds up fans of certain other clubs and journalists.
‘Look at them, think they have won the Premier League / Champions League… etc etc’
I absolutely love it.
Twelve more Premier League games to go, as well as fingers crossed plenty more FA Cup matches, plus the small matter of that 16 March date at Wembley, so hopefully many more of these photos to come.
