Chelsea trust Enzo Maresca and he’s involved in the planning for the summer transfer window according to Fabrizio Romano.

The Blues returned to winning ways in the Premier League with a 4-0 win against Southampton at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday night.

Enzo Maresca’s men have temporarily moved back into the top four, although they could drop back out depending on how Newcastle and Manchester City do in their respective fixtures on Wednesday evening.

Romano on Maresca and the summer window

Chelsea fans were left disappointed by the lack of action in the January transfer window, compounded by the fact the Blues have now picked up several injuries in attack.

Maresca is having to make do with what he’s got at his disposal and seems to have stumbled across a solution with Pedro Neto as a makeshift striker.

Focus is absolutely on qualifying for the Champions League, with Maresca confirming that’s the target this season, having previously played it down.

Planning for the summer window will no doubt already be underway, and it promises to be a vital window, with the squad still lacking in several key areas despite the vast investment.

Romano has provided an update on Chelsea’s summer plans and confirmed Maresca is involved in the planning process.

“Chelsea really trust Enzo Maresca and he’s involved in the summer transfer window planning,” he told his YouTube channel.

“Positions Chelsea want to strengthen include centre back, striker, left winger and probably a new midfielder.”

If the Blues could address those areas with the right quality it would certainly make a huge difference to not only the squad but the first team.
