Thousands of Sheffield Wednesday fans are watching a live stream of the seats bearing Dejphon Chansiri's name being removed from Hillsborough.

Sheffield Wednesday went into administration on Friday to effectively bring owner Dejphon Chansiri's tenure to an end, and club staff wasted no time in removing all traces of him from Hillsborough stadium.

Amid mounting pressure from the EFL, HMRC and supporters, Chansiri placed Wednesday and the company through which he owns the stadium into administration on Friday morning, which essentially means that he is no longer in control at Hillsborough.

After failing to pay the wages of players and staff on time on multiple occasions in recent months, the Owls had already been banned from paying transfer fees for the next three windows, while they were also under five separate transfer embargoes, and they were reportedly close to being served with a winding-up petition over an outstanding £1 million debt.

In a statement on their official website, Wednesday revealed that failed talks over a potential takeover, as well as a significant decrease in matchday revenue, had also contributed to Chansiri's decision to put the club into administration.

As a result of entering administration, the Owls have been hit with an immediate 12-point deduction, and while they were already bottom of the Championship table, they now sit on minus six points and are 15 points from safety.

However, while that means Wednesday will almost certainly be relegated to League One this season, administration could accelerate the sale process, and joint-administrator Paul Stanley predicted that the club could be under new ownership within the next couple of months.

It has certainly been an eventful day for Wednesday, and less than an hour after it was confirmed that the club had gone into administration, club staff began removing the seats bearing Chansiri's name from the North Stand.

Chansiri's name has adorned the North Stand since the 2018-19 season, and even though he was much more popular at the time the white seats were installed, it is fair to say the move did not go down well with Owls supporters.

The infamous seats have become even more controversial in recent years as discontent towards Chansiri increased, and the Wednesday faithful have long called for them to be replaced with something that better reflects the club's identity.

With administration meaning that Chansiri's reign at Hillsborough has come to an end, or at least that he is no longer in control of the running of the club, staff immediately got to work on taking out the white seats, and the Owls' official Esports team set up a live stream of the action on their X account, which you can watch below.

At the time of writing, the stream had already amassed over 94,000 views, despite only being live since 1:15pm on Friday afternoon, and that number is likely to climb further as staff continue the painstaking job of removing any hint of Chansiri from the stadium.

Wednesday are next in action when they welcome Oxford United to Hillsborough later on Saturday, and a bumper crowd is likely to celebrate the end of the Chansiri era, but with less than 24 hours to go until kick-off, a long night could be in store for staff as they look to complete the North Stand makeover.

In normal circumstances, going into administration would be one of the darkest days in the history of a club, but there has been a notable feel-good factor among Wednesday supporters on social media since the news was announced, and in response to the live stream, many expressed their delight at seeing Chansiri's name being erased from Hillsborough.

In an indication of just how desperately Owls supporters want to see their stadium become a completely Chansiri-free zone, some fans even offered to help those removing the seats to get the job completed ahead of Saturday's game.

Not content with simply removing the seats, one Wednesday fan pointed out that a faint outline of Chansiri's name could still be seen, recommending that even further action should be taken.
